Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers are usually used for aesthetic reasons when the patients’ teeth are chopped, worn down, stained cracked or too far apart. In this case patient can decide for partial reconstruction instead of having their teeth replaced or restored and that is when porcelain veneers comes in place.

Dental veneers are bonded to the front of the teeth and provide attractive and natural look. Two materials are usually used for dental veneers – composite resin and porcelain. Our porcelain veneers are custom designed and hand fabricated by our in house porcelain veneers artist. After the veneers are fabricated they are bonded to the teeth.

Getting porcelain veneers usually requires 3 visits of your cosmetic dentist. One for consultation and 2 to fabricate and apply the veneers.

1. First visit

During the first visit you should explain the dentist what your expectations are and what results you are trying to achieve. The dentist will then examine your teeth to determine if the dental veneers are appropriate and discuss the whole procedure with you.

2. Second visit

Your cosmetic dentist will remove 1 or 2 millimeter of enamel from the tooth surface to prepare the tooth for a veneer. You can also decide if you want to receive a local anesthetic. In the next phase the dentist will make a model of your tooth. The model is then sent out to our in house veneers artist who will construct the veneer for you. It usually takes around 1-2 weeks to be constructed. During this time period you might get temporary dental veneers.

3. Third visit

Before placing the veneer on your tooth, you dentist will clean and polish it to ensure easy bonding process. Once completed a special cement is applied to the veneer and the veneer is then placed on your tooth. You might be asked to schedule a follow-up visit in a couple of weeks.

Main benefits of porcelain veneers are:

  • Instant white and straight teeth
  • Permanent colour, no stains, no need for teeth whitening
  • Durable porcelain helps restore cracked and broken down teeth
  • Complete in 2 weeks
