Yaletown Laser and Cosmetic Dentistry is featuring a life changing story on one of our patients! Liz Adams has so graciously shared her wonderful and inspiring story.
I LOVE my new smile and only wish that I’d made the decision to restore my smile sooner. I have so much more confidence now, and for the first time in about 15 years, I actually like having my photo taken. Thank you Yaletown Dental Team!
1. Why did you decide to have your smile restored?
I’ve been dreaming about having my smile restored for around 8 years. Since an eating disorder in my teens left my teeth with very little enamel, my smile was becoming increasingly discoloured and eroded. I had developed large food traps which made me feel pretty stressed out while eating with people I didn’t know, and I had a slight whistle when I spoke, thanks to a small gap in my front teeth. I finally decided to have my teeth restored when I went to a close friend’s wedding in May of this year. Determined not to be camera-shy for the day, I just went for it, but after seeing the photos I finally resolved to fix my damaged smile.
2. Why did you choose Yaletown to achieve your dream smile?
Yaletown was one of a number of dental practices I initially spoke with about having my teeth restored – both in Canada and in the UK. When I went in for an initial consultation at Yaletown dentistry, I didn’t really know what the recommended treatment would be, or even if I would go through with it. The more I spoke with Sarah and the team the more I knew I had come to the right place. They were so friendly and knowledgeable I felt instantly at home.
3. Did you find the treatments comfortable?
The treatments were so much easier than I’d expected! I was able to watch a film during the first treatment which made the time in the dentist chair go by much more quickly. The best part was that I didn’t have to take a single painkiller after having either my temporary or permanent veneers fitted.. that, and Dr Kassam’s singing! The whole experience far exceeded my expectations.
4. Did you enjoy your involvement in designing your smile?
Designing my new smile was the really fun part of the process. I brought my boyfriend along to help me decide on colour and shape, although I ended up mostly taking Crystal’s advice. It turned out to be a good decision!
5. What would your advice be for other patients?
Do it! And choose Yaletown! I LOVE my new smile and only wish that I’d made the decision to restore my smile sooner.
6. How has your smile makeover changed your life?
I just have so much more confidence now, and for the first time in about 15 years, I actually like having my photo taken. Perhaps more importantly, I feel like I have really put some of my turbulent teenage years behind me.
